The State of Qatar established diplomatic relations with Brunei Darussalam was on the 2
nd
of October 1991. Brunei opened its Embassy in Doha on June 20, 2001 at a charge d'affaires level, while the State of Qatar opened its embassy in Brunei on October 11, 2008, at a charge d'affaires level, too.
During the state visit of His Highness, the father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani - May Allah bless him - to Brunei on January 17, 2012, the raising of diplomatic representation between the two countries to embassy level was officially announced.
The first head of the Mission was His Excellency Ahmed Ibrahim Abdulla Al-Abdulla, and then the charge d'affaires of the State of Qatar to Brunei..
The first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to Brunei is H.E. Saleh Mohammad Saleh Al-Nesef.
